432 Park Avenue, NYC’s soon to be the tallest residential tower (also in the western hemisphere) just hit the 50% milestone in last month, reaching a height of 700 feet. Emmy-award-winning branding and creative agency DBOX is in charge of branding and creative for this project designed by architect Rafael Viñoly, and you should have a look at it if you didn’t already. Where can you see the film they made for it you ask? well… that is truly a million-dollar question!
Victor Larsson caught my eye right away with his latest 3d recreation of Swedish Pre-Fab manufacturer Arkitekthus House #001 designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects. First of all, I have a soft spot for anything pre-fab and adding to that a set of perfectly lit and well composed visuals with a striking dusk snow image got me curious about why and how he went about making this scene. Pixelpark‘s ‘Los Faiques Dwelling’ visuals, inspired by the real ‘Los Faiques Dwelling’ designed by DURAN & HERMISA arquitectos asociados, awarded them Best Visualization of the Week NO. 04/2014 for a remarkable CG remake and level of details they went into during the process. Great care and time was taken in the modeling of the foliage that surrounds the structures as well as the materials… specifically, the imperfections you find over time. Follow this article as they describe the process of creating these highly photorealistic visuals using 3dsmax, GrowFX, V-Ray and just a bit of postwork. Enjoy!
I’ve learned about the Los Faiques Dwellings in Yunguilla valley, Ecuador, following pixelpark’s remarkable CG remake of this eye catching design by Duran & Hermida arquitectos asociados. Named after the trees occupying the site, the pavilion like structures blend in and open themselves towards the surroundings. There are amazing dusk shots in this photo set taken by photographer Sebastián Crespo.
I first learned about studio xoio following their co-founders, Lasse Rode, post about Casa Barragan at the forums. Browsing their portfolio, one image in particular captured my attention.
