My first “big” commercial project. I was responsible for designing an apartment at a reasonable price with a contemporary feel to it. It was quite an interesting experience to work on a project where I had to stick to the requirements of my client and limit almost all my ideas. I had to keep it relatively low cost and minimalistic which meant that I couldn’t even use different wall colors, had to stick to tiles on the floor etc.

When it comes to the technical aspect of the project, I mainly used an HDRI for lighting. To reduce render times I also used ambient occlusion. Render times varied from 3-4 hours.

The main task of this 3D visualization for a Los Angeles project was to convey the romantic feel about the terrace the Architect created. His clients were stunned by the smart furniture style, soothing pastel colors and the variety of materials – all of which they were able to see in photorealistic quality owing to cgi. The exterior render allowed to examine every detail of sofas’ textile, the stone outside fireplace, the wooden decor etc.

The most noticeable accent of this Los Angeles project 3D visualization is eco-design elements in the exterior. Our 3D Artists highlighted emerald plants of different sizes by bright daylight, their shadows and even reflections on glass banisters. Moreover, since the whole terrace exterior is in pastel shades, the vibrant green is the only colorful emphasis of the architectural visualization.

Ichigo Hotel by Julian Bektashi

I usually think of some emotional theme even for my architectural visuals, sometimes related to old memories.
I’ve always had this gloomy image of an hotel in the early morning, when you usually leave for your flight. The city still dormant but with some sign of life here and there like a passing car..

My personal challenge is not creating the most realistic looking image possible, but create a piece of work capable of conveying atmosphere, familiarity and a visceral sense of place.

It is a story set in the future.
It is completely rendered in 3D.
It is a non commercial and non profitable film that I wanted to write, direct and animate.
The film is set in La Paz, Bolivia known for its beautiful surroundings and high attitudes.
I chose this place because it is located close to the worlds equator and it somewhere in which has shown signs of global warming is currently taking affect.
The character talking is nostalgic telling us about his memories of a place that he once loved and travelled.
In this world the government tired to enforce a strict clean up policy to prevent mass destruction. In this film the governments movement started too late.
The message is about global warming and regret.
