(Floating) House for a relatively wealthy intellectual

Lately I’ve been using exclusively Redshift for my renders. It’s extremely fast and reliable, but my personal conclusion is that i can’t get the same level of detail and realism as a CPU based render like Vray. This Is not necessarily bad, the final images can be still artistically rich and interesting if you know what you’re doing. Realism is not everything! In my case, i did the best i could considering my time was limited. Some details could have definitely been better, but i had to compromise. Nothing really special in my workflow: Modeled and textured in 3ds max, used Polygon Textures, Forest pack+Laubwerk for the vegetation and marvelous for the soft parts. I’ve designed and modeled most major interior assets like the Couch, bed, Tables, kitchen ecc. Some color adjustments in photoshop. The exterior scenes are fully CGI.

LANDS LOST

Set in the future – 2084 located in La Paz, Bolivia
The character is nostalgically telling us about his memories of a place that he once loved and travelled.
In this world the government tired to enforce a strict clean up policy to prevent mass destruction.
In this film the governments movement started too late.

REGENERATING

A modern and organic regeneration of the Sydney urban textile that perfectly merges with the heritage existing volumes. A challenging competition entry we illustrated for Woods Bagot where the rejuvenation of the historical Surry Hills Shopping Village highlights the reinterpretation of the heritage shapes.

WTO

I remember coming across a post about this building on Peter Guthrie’s blog years ago, when I was just starting looking into CGI, and since then I wanted to recreate the architecture and the mood in CGI.
I’ve finally found some spare hours at night to recreate the atmosphere, tweaking some things here and there according to my taste.
The challenge was to re-create patiently everything in 3D, exteriors, interiors and environment, with just some few late night hours of work. Patience, perseverance and a good hardware setup made the trick.
Only disappointment is the crazy amount of noise generated by HDRIs and the extra render time needed to clean it.
