Horation court, Santa Monica

I came across the architecture of Irving Gill during my travels in America
as I was walking around the streets of Santa Monica passing by Horatio Court.
The simplicity of the houses, the materials and colours are so quintessentially LA
it made me stop and admire the architecture, perfectly blending in
and standing out at the same time.

Back home in the UK I wanted to re-create this iconic housing block in 3D – focussing on capturing the “LA vibe” and showing off the combination of the simple geometric shapes forming the houses.

W. villa

Hello,
At the beginning for this project i got inspired by midcenturymodern houses and architecture, i looked at some MCM interiors such as farnsworth house and that gave me inspiration for creating this atmosphere and lighting in the scene.

Small Details

This is a small animation I did for TheRookiesco Competitions.

I really like to focus on the small details when I’m doing 3d, but these days the clients want wide images to show the whole space. So this project is going to be about close-ups and details.

Also, I decided to have a little fun with phoenix fd, tyflow, and growfx, so I force myself to learn new skills animating liquids, smokes, plants, and cloth.
