Randomising Window Blinds with RailClone
iToo Software have released their second Tips & Tricks tutorial of 2016. This short video builds on the Parametric Windows with RailClone tutorial released last month and demonstrates how RailClone can be used to add the illusion of habitation to a building by adding randomized blinds.
The final RailClone graph for this tutorial looks like this :
“In our last Tips and Tricks instalment we looked at how to use RailClone to easily add 100s of differently sized windows to a façade. In this video we’ll extend that idea and add roller blinds to the windows. To make them easy to use, the blinds will use the same splines as the windows and will also have randomized “openness” properties to add lifelike variety to your buildings. Once the style has been created you can use it to add blinds in a single click!”.

The files that come with this series are compatible with 3DS Max 2010 – 2016, V-Ray, Mental Ray and RailClone Pro.
