As stated in my previous update, I want to be as faithful as possible to the existing building, in its context, Therefore i searched for a lot of references from around the building, to really capture the look of the everyday objects in the street that, in one way or another, play a big part in the whole composition and the cenario in which it’s inserted, creating a familiar feeling and adding realism to the composition.
As i write this update i’m rendering the final image and will start the post production in a few hours, i’ll post another update in the next couple of days.
Thank you

To populate the square and get as close as possible to the concept of story I decided to personally photograph all the various subjects.

I do not have a photo set or a green screen so I improvised by photographing many friends in different locations.

The longest work will be to cut people, paint shadows and lights and integrate it with the final image.

I would like to share here some of the process. Searching for the camera view is my favorite stage especially when the aesthetic of the building is minimalistic and eye-catchable. I like to walk inside the scene very fastly trying different camera angles (with different field of views) so I won’t spend a lot of time setting up one camera.
When I opened the model at the first time I saw the well and I thought it might an intersting shot if I put the camera inside and target the camera on the building. I have tried it immediately and I liked the result so much that I even haven’t tried the other camera angles in this case. After playing a bit with the camera I started applying some basic materials (as I believe that I won’t get a true result with clay model) so I can get some colors to play with a composition. When I have the camera and basic materials I can go ahead to setup the lighting (the main thing I think). This stage is the most delicate, sometimes you need a lot of time to decide which lighting scheme is matching the best. I often use the daylight system in 3ds max as it is a great tool that allows me to test different (and physically correct) lights very fastly.
The tricky part here is the corten material. To set it up correctly you can spend too much time. I like to make things simple rather then overcomplicated. So I just prepared a pack of different corten textures and used them as tiles with multitexture.
While the whole process I try to use a lot of references as it saves a lot of time. That is it at the moment.

Cheers

talking about the direction of a project, generally when i recieve a project i used to study it and recognice how much and wich spaces or locations the client need to show and sell his project, an soon as i knew about the challenge i start thinking what kind of composition would be the best, generally the most logicall could be to show an exterior fecade to show, the entire project and its location, but in this case i prefer to take a chance and create a close up image like some photos of the project but telling a history and of course showing an important or pretty location of the project. then i start to think what location take, i take up some hours to decide a nice composition and at the same time i was thinking about the story to tell.

Then was time to start working, first of all i always prefer to test some enviorements or mood, i like dusk and rainy days generally so this was the best opportunity to have fun making some different and awesome, so i started to illuminate and apply some material, then cames the hardwork that was apply materials to the entire escene, and populating the scene with props and some thing that exist in real life, i must to say that from the begining i felt so comfortable with the project because it came arranged as generally i arrange my projects, so i just need to re distribute some layers to work faster and remodel some geometry an then aply detail.

in my story i have a guy who is seeing an architectural exhibition and he fall in love whit the architectura and wants to “be there” studiying, for that reason the name of the image and also is a pretty analogy of my desire of be there working with TMRW, anothe nice concept is that i want to take me a photo and include me in the image so i will be who create the image, and also i will strengthen the concept of really be there… i do this also because i think that the best way to create realistic images is taking the photos of the people and integrating it in the render, it comes a plus to the render and the story. Hope you like it.
