Tomorrow Challenge 2018 entry by User-21467022

School´s out for summer! for Tomorrows competition in 2018.
As the model was provided, i could take more time to rxplore various photos trying to find some inspiration. And the biggisest one was right away on the competitions page.It was about composition and camera position, i´ve only tweaked it a bit moved up and donw, forward and left and of course according to golden ratio. Basic model got some basic materials, then i was trying different types of hdris, After all i sticked to fstorm´s native sun and sky which did tremendous job and it looked exactly as i wanted.. Then filling the scene with some models and finally materials. Since it was deadline and i did not have time to tweak them more. Then used basic colour correction and curves in PS along with chromatic aboration. And that´s it. Overall i am not very proud on the materials – lots of space to improve, but i am quite happy with the lightning and the mood.

I aimed for procedural and very structural shader which will contain as much material information as possible. I decided to use 2 tilable bitmaps for base texture, and all other small and big details of glossy parts, oxidized areas and burnt out areas were achieved procedurally via noise maps, composite materials and variations of materials.

I also did some work on ground textures.

Next step will be color balancing them all together, adding lively assets and going for final render!

now I made a test render .
I used a clear sky to concentrate on the building as I mentioned before.
I didn’t decide yet which style should I go for the blue or the gray one .

I will post the gray style shot in a different post because for some reason i can’t upload multiple jpeg.
but I guess it will be the blue sky after all.

“Cropped” high-contrast image which shows from bottom to top both night and day, both shadow and sun, both illuminated interior and reflective exterior, both corten in the dark and corten under the sun, both life inside the architecture school and outside on the tight streets. It also hints the curvilinear circular form of the building. The focus was on the facade frames which talk a lot about the character and identity of the project. Made with 3DMax, Vray and Photoshop. As usual for me a big emphasis was given to the post production part. I have to find time and will to improve my technical Vray skills so that my raw renders would give me the chance to get to world-class level. That’s my goal and I am pretty sure I can reach it through hard work. Thank you Ronen and Tomorrow for the opportunity to participate in a creative personal challenge.
