In my final emtry I was trying to create a mood of cold but gentle environment around main building wich invites visitors with it welcoming warm atmosphere.

Main idea was to make building to look outstanding from rest of natural surroundings.

I`ve used ambient lighting along with fog volumetrics in opposite to warm light from museum interiors.

Hope you like it!

Thanks!

Here I present my final submission. It’s been fun working on this challenge this month since I recently finished a course on archviz and I already got an itch for more work of this kind. I also got to do an exterior shot, which I haven’t done many and keep practising on software I haven’t touched so much.
Anyway, thanks Tomorrow and Ronen for the opportunity and good luck to everyone else!

So it seems I’ve skipped the concept image post even though the challenge is coming to an end. So here I submit the image that inspired my work for this challenge before I upload the final result.
It is a photograph of James Turrell’s Stone Sky, that came to my mind inmediately after I saw the photos of the museum featured in the blog and Archdaily.
So I began my work around the idea of the double symmetry composition of this square shaped form reflecting on a water body.

Having decided on the final composition I then focused on creating the necessary assets for the scene. Some of these I already had in my library but others needed to be created.

A very simple example was to create some birch leaves to scatter on the paving. I only had oak/maple leaves in my library, and since the trees are predominantly birch, it would be inconsistent to use leaves from the wrong tree types.

With the scene model nearly complete I just have the final lighting and atmosphere to set up. In this project my aim is to have a raw render which requires little post production. While this is not always the most efficient way of working because I had the time I felt it was worth doing. This approach also allows me to render out other angles at little cost because the work on the scene has been done in advance.

Final render to follow…
