CABINS entry by Anna Adamowicz
The main idea is to create a cabin close to nature, even too close. It will be surrounded and minimally interfere with it and over time, through a natural way to connect with it into one entity. More comming soon.

See Entries & Join! About ConvertedThe 7th Architectural Visualization Challenge I’m running in partnership with Quixel as the marquee sponsor. The book CABINS by Philip Jodidio and the fantastic illustrations by Marie-Laure Cruschi served as the principal inspiration for this year’s challenge theme. That, and my love for prefab architecture design.

I always dreamed of a cabin next to a lake, I do not know personally The Grand Teton, but I know that I like to have it, I imagine an alpine cabin overlooking the pine trees to the lake, with a spring in front where you can sit and draw while I drink a coffee.
Some additional ideas regarding the location and the types of atmosphere I would like to explore.
Maybe the location will include some cliffs, with deep valleys and where mist, glowing sun or stark shadows can help to create an interesting atmosphere.
Here are some ideas regarding the place, and also helping in some way to the composition and mood.
Exploring architecture in a small scale, with nature around
As an inspiration I thought of a place where I spent all summers during my childhood. It was always so peaceful, quiet and completely abandoned. Abandonment is what makes this place so special.
For my initial concept I drew inspiration from the game FIREWATCH by Campo Santo Studio.
I love the art style of this game, its original and beautiful and really captures the sense of the wilderness in which it is set. I particularly enjoyed the design of the Lookout tower that is central to the storyline. The elevated position allows for majestic panoramas of the surrounding environment and provides a sheltered yet exposed vantage point for the protagonist.
Like many people the idea of retreating from everyday life into nature is one that interests me a lot. An escape from the real world, a sanctuary where you are the only person for miles around. These are the qualities I’d like to convey in my cabin design.
