Tomorrow 2019 Challenge entry by Amr Moussa

I started this competition by trying find good composition to make artistic scene
I tried different views and I saw different visualization studios work like Plompmozes,
MIR, K2, brick, submarine and tomorrow I found some inspirational work.

First image I found interesting photography on instgram (slope street between two
buildings) and lighting mood from submarine studio, Shops were the hardest part
of this composition because I had to do quick interior design for this shops due to
sunset mood I chose.

Second image I inspired by real photography of the library and light mood from
Tomorrow I used soft sun with corona sky and interior lights, I modeled floor manually
and scattered books with railclone.

Third image ( natural one ) I found lots of visualization adding main building within
nature and landscape I chose image from Plompmozes as my main reference for light
and composition, I used corona sun and sky to make morning sun mood then replaced
corona sky with another sky, I added to 2 young people with Photoshop to make the
feel they are going to library in the morning.

The most difficult part of this competition is to find interesting and creative position
unlike those image on the Internet.
I spent a lot time and saw hundreds of images to find good idea.

This challenge was great opportunity to learn professorial architectural composition
I learned a little and I have to spend more time and work to make scene more a artistic
and focus on details like street elements, buildings in the background and adding more
effects, life and depth to the image.

Light and Darkness

The theme was light and darkness. Both of the pictures were painless with people. quiet. And I made a picture of a calm atmosphere.

Darkness, the polar opposite to brightness, is understood as a lack of illumination or an absence of visible light.
Light is electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The word usually refers to visible light, which is the visible spectrum that is visible to the human eye and is responsible for the sense of sight.

I made it assuming Saturday’s dawn.
I used 3dsmax and v-ray for rendering.
Also I used railclone to make a bookshelf.
I especially focused on sunlight and produced
while thinking of the dawn of the mountainous area.
When rendering, we used environmental fog
and aerial perspective features to express air and light.

I decided to join Tomorrow Challenge for the first time.
It’s been 6 years since I started CG production. It was a good opportunity to ascertain how much I am making CG and studying regularly.
What you usually care about in CG production is to be Photorealistic, to make people’s eyes attract attention, to feel a sense of air, to make buildings look better.
Each of the three CGI devised Stockholm ‘s climate, air feeling, color taste, and determined the composition using the nature and topography of the adjacent park.
The entrance image depicts the composition by golden ratio and expresses the winter climate of Stockholm.
Snow on the ground uses displacement, and we produced masks of people walking in Photoshop. It was a fun work because I do not usually make snow scenes.
It was a fun work because I do not usually make snow scenes.
I would like to see the details such as the snow on the window sash.
The interior image explored the light to be inserted through the window and the dynamic angle looking up the stairs.
In the space where there was only one person before the opening, light was inserted, and the dust was visualized to express the dry feeling of winter air.
The exterior image expresses the nature of the adjacent park as naturally as possible and uses the branch on the front and the ridgeline of the hill for guiding the line of sight.
Even this image made a snow scene, but it was difficult to make snow material real.

My goal is to produce CGI which is not so far.
Although past targets could not clear that goal, I would like to try to continue making high quality CGI from now on.
I am glad that I participated in this Challenge.

I found an image on the internet that framed part of two spaces, the main hall and the main entrance, they contrasted with each other in such a way that it seemed to me as a good place for a composition that emphazised the interaction between architecture and light.

The camera angle was pretty much decided so it was just a matter of fine tunning the position, deciding on the lens and the image aspect ratio. I decided to go for a center composition to accentuate in the contrast between spaces, so that it felt almost like a dyptich. After finding some more references I decided I wanted to for for a contrast of bright lights an deep dark shadows, I also wanted to use color in light in order to diferentiate spaces. A vertical aspect ratio was used in order to narrow the frame and make the image look more dichotomic.

Modeling and shading with detail was pretty essential.

Post was very simple, I just added a little bit of detail and fixed color.
