Ok, the 3d model is finished, now I’m defining materials, environment, lights and composition.
The general idea is to consider the building as a work of art, a sculpture or a face looking toward the camera. So I will use a long lens with DOF, so the focus is on the building to give importance to the subject. The image will have cool colors and a minimal environment in harmony with the architecture and the materials. The only parts with warm lights will be the street lights of the walkway leading to the building and the interior of the exhibition halls, like warm is the experience that visitors live in the museum.

It would be fun and challenging to participate this challenge and learn new things as well. Just started gathering some references and preparing the concept. Today, I only manage to convert the plans for guide using simple script called image2Spline converter found at 3dteamz.com. Hopefully, I would be able to continue the next day and slowly progress. Good luck to all the participants. Cheers…

I finished model of the building, and did a fast sketch of surrounding.
Building – The hardest part for me was modeling of wood cladding: since I did not have normal blueprints of facades, I used to look at reference photos and was matching them with blueprints.. Again and again. In my opinion, wood cladding is a key in this situation, it’s not just a chaos, there is a logic inside of it. For example, Architects used 5-6 modules of wood cladding which repeated steadily. Also I used Randomize Elements script, to give them more natural look.

Landscape – I gathered all information which I wanted, by downloading about 130 images. Thankfully, Swedish Archipelago is often visited by tourists. I’ve made fast sketch of surrounding in 3dsmax, for better understanding of distances and composition. For further works on landscape I will use Zbrush.

Following last week working progress. I have started to look into concept. I have learn from a colleague that Swedish celebrate All Saint day instead of Halloween.

It is a very special day where family went out to cemetery to decorate graves of the close one with flowers and lighting candles.

For practical reason, they put the candle in a jar to avoid any chance of accident. It is also against the law to light a candle without putting it in a container (according to my friend).

I found the combination of culture and law together make the scene beautiful. Therefore, I quickly found some reference for the elements that I can incorporate in the visual.

I will like to present this visual in its unique beauty as the remembrance day do. Reflection of one self seems to have the meaning of remembrance, therefore I have place the gallery on top of a pool. I continue the cladding language by overlapping the gallery on top of the pool not only for the meaning but also to reveal it’s purest form.

Following on, I design an inside out candle installation with some sketches to support the idea. It will be a sunset scene where people just reach the gallery and start lighting candles in a jar and let it float on the pool.

I already started model the scene and will keep the post coming.

Once the modeling was completed I looked at the site study and the integration of the project in this one, I highlighted a few strong elements to develop my concept.
1-the topography of the terrain: I decided to contrast with the rather flat topography of the real project integrating my project in a more or less accidental
2-project near the Baltic Sea I decide to keep this notion Close to the water, integrating my project on the shore of a lake
3-for me the highlight of this project from an architectural point of view is undoubtedly its façade composed of black wood panels in an alternating rhythm and which I remembered the natural structure of a pine cone, I decided to evoke this idea by putting my project in a vegetalized frame; A forest of pines!
I imagine then that my project will be located on the shores of a lake in a quarry of coniferous forest.
After structuring my ideas I looked at the references.
This will consist of a technical challenge to try to get out with the most realistic possible image while trying to limit the maximum post-production work and trying to give an identity and a particular atmosphere to my image the next step will be the setting of The camera as well as lighting
