Ok, the 3d model is finished, now I’m defining materials, environment, lights and composition.
The general idea is to consider the building as a work of art, a sculpture or a face looking toward the camera. So I will use a long lens with DOF, so the focus is on the building to give importance to the subject. The image will have cool colors and a minimal environment in harmony with the architecture and the materials. The only parts with warm lights will be the street lights of the walkway leading to the building and the interior of the exhibition halls, like warm is the experience that visitors live in the museum.

It would be fun and challenging to participate this challenge and learn new things as well. Just started gathering some references and preparing the concept. Today, I only manage to convert the plans for guide using simple script called image2Spline converter found at 3dteamz.com. Hopefully, I would be able to continue the next day and slowly progress. Good luck to all the participants. Cheers…

I finished model of the building, and did a fast sketch of surrounding.
Building – The hardest part for me was modeling of wood cladding: since I did not have normal blueprints of facades, I used to look at reference photos and was matching them with blueprints.. Again and again. In my opinion, wood cladding is a key in this situation, it’s not just a chaos, there is a logic inside of it. For example, Architects used 5-6 modules of wood cladding which repeated steadily. Also I used Randomize Elements script, to give them more natural look.

Landscape – I gathered all information which I wanted, by downloading about 130 images. Thankfully, Swedish Archipelago is often visited by tourists. I’ve made fast sketch of surrounding in 3dsmax, for better understanding of distances and composition. For further works on landscape I will use Zbrush.
