CABINS entry by Emeka

Researching for inspirations, i stumbled upon the Archipelago of Stockholm in sweden und was beautifully stunned. I could already play the scenes in my head, running ideas and several compositions.

The location should be a sacred haven where sculptural rocks, oaks and pines dominate the landscape.

Using the inspirational examples uploaded, my concept is to take full advantage of the scenic ocean view whilst creating a place for leisure with a feeling of comfort and relaxation. The main cabin would most probably sit slightly back and elavated from the waterfront, half hidden behind the knotty pine trees. Facing the ocean would be a large area for socializing. The smaller moduls would sit along the waterfront.

This entry is just some initial sketches (inspired by Ronen’s entry and the Fauves artist movement), some photos from my inspiration walk along the beach and some precedents from research online.

I’ve been really getting into that overcast rainy mood that January brings to the South coast of England and it’s really starting to influence my concept.

The concept behind the cabins thus far is to create a typical English seaside getaway on a cabin which sits out in the water along a completely sheltered strip of beach, surrounded by the chalky British cliff face.

This project will be the first one that I use 3ds max for. I’ll be using this project in order to learn 3DS to a suitable industry standard.

Just prior to learning of the CABINS challenge, I had been investigating naturally occurring stone bridges and arches. I took this as a serendipitous convergence of ideas and had to mesh the two together.
Hopefully, this idea won’t fall flat. 😉

Location scouting. This is a real location in the middle of Norway, the mountain cabin is to be placed at ca 900m above the sea level, hanging out from the mountain. A spectacular view overlooking the valley below with connected cabins, a frozen lake, and the magnificent Northern Light… The small cabin should be a pretty easy set up (given the structure and architecture references).

I will download height information from the free disposable Norwegian database and recreate the mountain(s) necessary for my, Hero, point of view.

I will use the same height map for the connected cabins area but I have to figure out the PoV for this location…

This project is based on an exterior and interior visualization concept for a client, I hope that is ok?

I always liked the idea of a house that gives you the freedom to chose the environment , rotate according to the sun and be near or far away from neighbors. What best solution than a boat cabin? As location I picked the beautiful scenery of Sweden’s lakes.
