The challenge of Tomorrow entry by Nenad Nacevic

Hello,

In the past month, on the given theme of the competition and the site of Hudson Yards, I have developed a vision for the project and made significant progress in the final visualization of my idea.

The essence of the project is based on a broader representation of the Hudson Yards area that has been influenced by the technological advances which I envision the future will bring by 2040.

Through 7 visualizations I want to present a one-day celebration cycle in this area.
I will show the transformation that space undergoes, such as: the change of utilization, shift of events, lighting variations, space occupancy density,…

Attached are some of the initial sketches of the composition, the dominant color scheme, as well as examples of the desired type of lighting for each image.

Soon I will upload the next phases of my project.

Best,
Nenad

Hello, everyone!

At this stage, I’ve defined three basic angles:

– The general view, which shows us the scale, the hyper loop connection, the system of underground tunnels and the infrastructure of the area.
– A view of the “vessel”. A more compressed view that allows us to focus on details.
– The view from the “4510/six New York”. Allows us to see the garden under the “vessel” as well as the surrounding area and feel the dynamics and massiveness of the structure.

In the project I use @ForestPack and @RailClon and therefore the scene is optimized and comfortable to work with. I also use a system of layers and folders, which makes the work even more comfortable. In the scene I also used @PhoenixFD to simulate mist from separate angles.

The angles will be further refined in detail until the next iteration.

If someone knows in which extension will have to pass the final result?
Thanks;)

So, in order to optimize time and not play around with 3d models too much I created a “levels map” where I am (based on my 3D idea) designing in 3D adding different levels but in a 2D plan, that was possible thanks to colors.
I will keep the bridge and tunnel to see in the future, if they can add more interest to the overall composition of the main image.
Water was added also to represent different types of entertaining places, it can be water but also can be holographic interactive things… I don’t know… let’s see what come to my mind during the process.

I’m glad to participate in this competition and find the topic to be exciting and challenging.
New York City is known to have amassed one of the most monumental and diverse collection of skyscrapers in the world.
In my work I want to reflect changes in architecture which may occur in the nearest 20 years. I make an assumption that completing of Hudson West will be postponed due to current crisis in the world, so I put accent on technological progress which could happen during this time, and introduce more daring and unique solutions in architecture of new buildings. I decided to reject initial conservative view on future buildings taking into account such amazing buildings under construction as 53W53, 111W57, One57, 9 DeKalb Avenue, Tower Fifth, The Spiral, 2 World Trade Center and those ones which are already built in Hudson Yards. Moreover, keeping in mind the saying of Hudson Yards’ developer Stephen Ross to Fox5NY that Western Yard are “all with a different architect” I made a decision to showcase even more innovative design, which will become accustomed and form new skyline of the city by 2040.
My task here is to show influence of the most appealing, in my opinion, trends of architecture of tomorrow. I highlighted three of such trends: passenger drones as an evolutionary development of the public transportation system; sky bridges as the way to build public spaces as well as the amenities for residential buildings; kinetic structures or their elements as the possibility to accommodate buildings to certain conditions and future demands.
I consider The Related Companies L.P. to be as competent as nobody else to calculate demand for office and living spaces for the city. I am going to follow numbers of 4 mil GSF of residential and 2 mil GSF of office spaces as well as one school provided in press release.
