CABINS entry by Evgeniia Popova

According the pipeline what I created for this project, after approval of the concept is time for modeling the weeHouse. Since I took the existing cabin, I set myself the task of making all the delails of construction as accurately as possible. Still, the decor I will add according my taste later, during working on final frames.

Some furniture I made by myself, some took on 3dsky.com

Actually I’m thinking about adding a couple of sun loungers on the terrace. Would be so nice to take a sun bath there… What’s your opinion?

I have started to work on the project itself, mainly doing some sketches and thinking about how to break down the complex model for the Bernall sphere.
The main problem right now is to keep continuity in the world, with enough detail; I will probably use some water extensions to cover problematic areas, and also use it as a nice coast line.
I have been playing around with Gaea, very promising but quite limited at the moment, to create some terrain areas. And looking through megascans library, I believe the bimoe of this world will be heavily inspired in Canadian landscape.

After defining the location and composing some scenes still in the sketches, I set out for 3ds Max to better define the proportions of the cabin and its surroundings, through a basic model.

I tried to keep in the model the same cameras that I created in the drawings, always evidencing the landscape that surrounds the cabin.

For modeling the environment, I used 3ds Max’s Displace Modifier with an applied fractal map, and then, I adjusted some points using Paint Deform from Max’s Graphite Tools.

The pencil has hit paper.

Really inspired by the small islands of Herm and the bays and beaches around Cornwall. Just Gorgeous.

Ideally I will only dress the set at these “360” waypoints.
I’m certain the 3D production stage will be a lesson in self control because I LOVE detail…

Next up. 3D Layout.

A concept for modular cabins using precast reinforced concrete tubes (typically used for infrastructure) and a steel frame. The concrete tube laying horizontally allows for a cascade of light to project onto the unfinished interior concrete wall. The juxtaposed orthographic assembly of steel shapes allows the cabin to float above the sloped site, offering views of the landscape beyond. A system of trusses will support a warm, hardwood floor that spans the tube. A custom bed frame doubles as compartmentalized bed-side and kitchen storage.
