I want this cabin to feel like it really belongs to the coastline, I want to capture that Brighton spirit through the use of metal which links strongly to the pier and old pier. Lots of pubs and service industry restaurants are finished with mirror glazed bricks which are very idiosyncratic to London/south coast pubs/tube stations. Flint has been used historically around the South coast for hundreds of years and i’d love to capture a bit of that history and character that those buildings hold. I’m also falling in love with the combination of brick, flint and metal, it gives a really industrial, textural and structural feel to a building. Finally, the chalk cliffs of the South coast are famous across the world (white cliffs of dover). These cliffs are really going to ground this concept and define the character and materials used.
