This entry is just some initial sketches (inspired by Ronen’s entry and the Fauves artist movement), some photos from my inspiration walk along the beach and some precedents from research online.

I’ve been really getting into that overcast rainy mood that January brings to the South coast of England and it’s really starting to influence my concept.

The concept behind the cabins thus far is to create a typical English seaside getaway on a cabin which sits out in the water along a completely sheltered strip of beach, surrounded by the chalky British cliff face.

This project will be the first one that I use 3ds max for. I’ll be using this project in order to learn 3DS to a suitable industry standard.

Nice sketches, they are different from what I would expect at first, but they look promising! And, like you, I’m also trying to learn or deepen some knowledge in software and trying some different workflows 🙂

One thing I saw in the models you shown here – maybe it could be interesting to remove the lateral vertical structural profiles (below the base), so that it appeared as a more unstable construction. Currently the vertical profiles seem maybe too strong and present for the concept I understood you were trying to explore. Using just the diagonal structural profiles could give probably some more unity to the concept. Good luck!

I really like the modularity of this, could be a single cabin or many connected to each other. Also that the structure in your inspiration image is being deconstructed by the sea. It takes some pretty sturdy construction to withstand mother nature… Looks right on track!
