CABINS entry by Bernardo
This is my concept entry for the challenge, today was the second and last time I visit the site before getting into the modelling phase, for photo references. I´ve been sketching some floor plans since last week to get a sense of the cabin and what I want to achieve.
My first idea was to place some cabins near Real de Catorce in San Luis Potosi, Mexico so you could visit the town when you are staying there. But I couldn’t find the time to visit Real de Catorce, and i’ve never been there.
Also the first concept felt too invasive so I decided to build up on this idea of “parasitic” project. I decided to place the cabin in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato since I live near and I really like going there. This would integrate the site into the project as a whole experience and not just as a retreat. San Miguel de Allende is so nice.
At first I thought of making a day of the dead festival scene since it’s one of the most amazing dates on San Miguel but it would look like a Pixar´s Coco cheap copy and time is too short now so I decided to go for that “last day there” feeling in the morning when you want to stay just one more day.
I have been studying the lines and shapes of Encuentro Guadalupe Hotel in Ensenada and Architect Miguel Montor´s Nuevo Continente school in Querétaro since I find both projects very similar to what I want to achieve and I believe they´re beautiful.
By now my main concern is being able to finish the scene and renders since time is not on my side.
