This light study was done to get reference photos and to test first camera sets. The idea is to show the building in contrasting summer light. I am interested in testing my skills to render a day view to expand personal portfolio and skills. Day lighting in my experience is the hardest to work with, hence I am giving myself an extra challenge 🙂
Good architecture looks beautiful and is functional.
The amazing architecture makes you feel. Through textures, forms, and volumes architecture evokes emotions. It makes us stop and wonder.
Majority of people perceive only visual part of architecture,but that’s just a touch on the surface.
Once, I met a blind person who truly fell in love with architecture. Through touching and walking around, with echo and sounds inside the building, he could tell if the building was well done or not. He is the true verification of architecture because you can’t deceive him with impressive visual elements. He could get closer to the soul of the building.
I imagine him near this school, I imagine him walking around the building with his hand pressing to the walls. And that’s a quintessence of what the architecture can give to people.
Scene
The renders setting is the moment when a warm evening breeze picks up fragrant pink tree blossoms, carrying them higher into the sky, and them gently layering on the pavement. A little boy in awe tries to catch the little pink flowers.
Process (3DS Max, Vray, Photoshop):
At first I build a general massing model.
Then, rendered in clay material and chose HDRI map.
After that rendered with basic materials on and printed and sketched over.
After that picked camera proportions. At first I set it up as the landscape image but after some tests decided that I like portrait better.
After that started to add Forest Pack greenery and added particle system.
At the very end tuned materials and minor mood lighting.
