I’ve learned about the Los Faiques Dwellings in Yunguilla valley, Ecuador, following pixelpark’s remarkable CG remake of this eye catching design by Duran & Hermida arquitectos asociados. Named after the trees occupying the site, the pavilion like structures blend in and open themselves towards the surroundings. There are amazing dusk shots in this photo set taken by photographer Sebastián Crespo.
I’ve rounded up all of the 52 Weekly Best Visualizations, Selected the best in each month to form the 12 Best Visualizations of 2013 and now I’m happy to announce that the BEST Visualization of YEAR 2013 is “La Maison de Verre” by Bertrand Benoit! It was far from easy to make the final call but in the end there could be only one, and Bertrand excelled in each category you choose to explore.
Moving apartments in Tel Aviv, walking around the various areas of the city, sparked and old-new love for architecture for Tel Aviv based designer / illustrator Avner Gicelter. This evolved into a wonderful personal project, inspired by José Guízar’s ‘Windows of New York’, in which Avner illustrates complete and interesting buildings across the city. The end results is remarkable… each one a poster, with attention to the buildings smallest features and colors referencing the city. 12 so far, and hopefully many more to come in this visual reference of Tel Aviv, Israel.
If there is a project by Zaha Hadid Architects I really like, It is this – Galaxy Soho in Beijing. And from all the photos taken of it, the ones by HUFTON + CROW are my favorite for showing the building teeming with people, in context and in contrast to it! I love the foggy mood they captured… so indicative of Beijing. Many criticize Zaha Hadid for repeating herself, but in this case I just love the form and flow which play well with a “spaceship just landed” like building. The photos taken from within the small city streets are the best.
Zinc covered house, situated in a great looking site in Cincinnati, Ohio. I find this house by Jose Garcia Design very inspiring… specifically the materials used and spacious feel to it. Stunning exterior photos in this set by Ryan Kurtz, blending the zinc house into the colorful foliage that surrounds it. We also get a great glimpse of the insides in the video they made as it came into the market.
Location, location… location! The Trend Avon River House sure got this one covered form all angles. Designed by Robert M. Gurney Architect, it is surrounded by views of the river looking different as you circle around its 3 main volumes connected with a glass bridge. Great reference for daytime and dusk looking at the photos taken by Maxwell MacKenzie.
