3D Object Manipulation in a Single Photograph using Stock 3D Models

Here’s some crazy photo-editing on steroids leveraging stock 3d models. From the 3d side of the fence this might not seem that much hoopla to start with, but this approach seems to transform any still 2d photo into a mini 3d environment in which you can start moving and rotating the objects as long as you can match them with a 3d model which is not that hard. Now bring this back to our realm and since we have it all in 3d anyway, this opens some crazy options for post render manipulations!

Tel Aviv Buildings by Avner Gicelter

Moving apartments in Tel Aviv, walking around the various areas of the city, sparked and old-new love for architecture for Tel Aviv based designer / illustrator Avner Gicelter. This evolved into a wonderful personal project, inspired by José Guízar’s ‘Windows of New York’, in which Avner illustrates complete and interesting buildings across the city. The end results is remarkable… each one a poster, with attention to the buildings smallest features and colors referencing the city. 12 so far, and hopefully many more to come in this visual reference of Tel Aviv, Israel.

You can never have enough 2d cutout people for your renders. A steady supply is needed to avoid repetition and today I stumbled upon this great looking site and resource by Teodor Javanaud Emdén called SKALGUBBAR. It is an online library of free high-resolution cutout images of people for your renderings. Finding people images on the internet was hard so Teodor started to take photos of his friends and they all started to use them in their visualizations.

Black Friday to Cyber Monday

Each year, the day after Thanksgiving in the united states kick-starts the Christmas shopping season. This Friday is Black Friday. Doesn’t sound that good you might say… well, it is said the name originated from the heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic occurring on the day after Thanksgiving – coloring the streets black. Later an alternative explanation suggested that this day marked the transition to profit and thus starting to write numbers in the books with black ink instead of negative red.
