Making of Esherick House, Part 3
After covering the initial stages in Part 1 and Materials in Part 2, Ludvík will now shed some light about – Lighting. This is the point in which all the hard work of setting up the scene and taking the time to fine tune the materials is being brought to life. Ludvík covers the making of Overcast, Sunlight and Night lighting scenarios with lots of additional insight about this process in Mental Ray.
Chris Labrooy’s Design Heroes
Chris Labrooy pays a wonderful homage to his design heroes – Zaha Hadid, Frank Ghery, Oscar Niemeyer, Tadao Ando, Toyo Ito & Ettore Sottsass by creating typography design based on the architecture, writing their name with it. How cool is that!
Free Lake with Pier Scene
Long time blog & challenges sponsor, iToo Software, created a very nice 3d landscaped scene that combines distribution of trees, grass and rocks over a terrain. You can download now the Lake with Pier scene, ready to render on 3DS Max 2010 or higher, with Forest Pack Pro 3.6 and VRay.
Private House at Suffolk by Peter Guthrie
Peter Guthrie first showcased this great set of renders that he made for Storm Architects design of a Private House at Suffolk at his Academy Day #2 Workshop in Venice. The special thing about it, other then seeing more remarkable images from Peter, was that we got a glimpse into his actual workflow – in person and in-depth. It was very nice seating next to him, seeing all the people in the conference room mesmerized during the entire session (lucky for me, there was a screen at the back too). Peter shared it on the forums, and you are all welcome to comment about it and ask whatever you like.
Making of Esherick House, Part 2
Picking up where he left off in Part 1, Ludvík dives into materials setup in great detail in Part 2 of the Esherick House Making Of series. You’ll also find a nice little scene with some materials to play with inside. I initially thought of adding the Lighting section here too but both are too long and stand on their own anyway, so Lighting will be published in Part 3 shortly after.
