The City Limits / Amazing Timelapse by Dominic
The CityLIFE challenge is near the finish-line, just 10+ days to go… and I found an amazing timelapse today, named “The City Limits”, that I like to share with you all – kick-starting the day and inspiring all the challengers to take their entries to the finish-line. Dominic Boudreault has a lot more interesting images and videos on his site, so do visit.
Free GrowFX Plants Library
Exlevel announced today the creation of a free GrowFX 3D Plants library, as well as 30% special discount on GrowFX purchase for Christmas and New Year holidays. The new library offers pre-made trees and other types of plants in GrowFX 1.8.0 format… so now you can load these trees as presets if you like and keep on designing your own trees based on that, instead of just doing it all from scratch!
Graticule House 3D Recreation by Bertrand Benoit
Bertrand Benoit posted on the forums a masterful recreation of a house designed by David Jameson Architects – the Graticule House (see the original Graticule House it in the inspiration section). Intended as a scene to test GrowFX trees (all of them are) and as a place to showcase Bertrand’s many great furniture models. Funny how he mentions “…I could never get it quite finished…”. I wish I can “never finish” projects this way!
Graticule House / David Jameson Architects
Graticule House by David Jameson Architects is an exemplar for the “isolated house in the woods” scenario. Interestingly articulated using a simple orthogonal design vocabulary, this house offer many great framed vantage points towards the woods and from the woods back at it. There are many photos to explore in this set offering great reference for how such a house could look both day and night, in and out. You should also check out Bertrand Benoit’s 3d recreation of Graticule House.
BrainTRUST Session 3, ‘Exposition Center’ by Gert Swolfs
It took a long time, but here is BrainTRUST session 3, featuring a work done by Gert Swolfs The Exposition Center. Check out the feedback by Adam, Alfa and I about this snowy, winter scene.
Making of House on the Coast
3dnotos studio sheds some light about the making of their striking “House on the Coast” image posted not long ago on the forums (Done in viewport still screen capture style mostly). I love the look & feel they went for on this one, being an actual client work, and not the usual treatment one would expect… this image offers both warmth and cold feelings with a very smart placement of the women overlooking the sea from her exterior deck.
