Making of Narrabeen House
Guillaume Favre takes us into the process of making his January 28 Best of Week forum entry – The Narrabeen House 3d recreation, originally designed and realized by Choi Ropiha Fighera architecture studio. Located in Sydney, Australia, I fell in love with this work for the same reasons Guillaume picked it as his personal project subject… great contemporary design with generous use of wood. I love the wood treatment in the 3d version and the end result as a whole, which has a stylistic feel to it vs. the real project photos.

Render vs. Photo / Loft Apartment in Kiev by 2B Group
Forum newcomer, Ryan Coyoca, posted one of the best photo-matched renders I’ve seen to date! The real photo actually looks more like the render in this case. The matching render is only a part of a more extensive 3d recreation project of a Loft Apartment in Kiev, designed by 2B.GROUP. Clearly inspired by the works of Bertrand Benoit (and stated as such), it takes nothing from this remarkable achievement. The border between CG & Photography just keeps blurring more and more.

The Mill by Chris Kowal
The Mill is a conceptual design project, done by Vancouver based 3D Artist Chris Kowal, to showcase MP Lighting‘s LED lights. Chris started his WIP thread about this project on the forums back in July 2011 and kept updating us about his progress. Yesterday the work was finally published in the form of an interactive website, best viewed on a tablet device and designed with the sales team of MP Lighting in mind offering them a portable tool to help their clients visualize lighting designs. All the work (design, modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering) was done by Chris except the coding of the site.
