Making of Astridhof Residence
Patric Verstraete recently published his latest work for VEELAERT ARCHITECTEN’s Astridhof Residence project, showcasing extensive environmental work to achieve similar look to that on site without relying on photography. Making of Phoenix & Vieques House Animation
Viktor Nassli shares two interesting animations created for Messana ORorke Architects – The Phoenix and Vieques House. This is a great example of a pragmatic and design driven approach to making an animation under short deadlines. Instead of going for just a few stills, they add a maquette-like style animation with the stills merged in as if camera snapshots were taken. Sound also plays a big part here!
Corona Renderer Alpha6 Released!
After 9 months of development, A new public version of Corona Renderer is being released today, called Alpha v6. The new features include support for distributed rendering, new robust API, ability to save and resume rendering later, improved light solver and motion blur, physically based camera, exposure and lights, and more. Because it is still in development, the plugin is free to use and can be downloaded at the official website after registering at the forum. It has no restrictions like limited resolution or watermarks, and can be used for commercial work. Commercial versions with artist-friendly pricing are planned for the future.
Making of Eames House / Case Study House No. 8
The Eames House is widely considered as one of the great buildings of the 20th century. Also known as the Case Study house 8, this beautiful piece of architecture was constructed in 1949 using only prefabrication and off-the-shelf materials. Sava Zivkovic recently published his personal animated short where he tried to capture the essence of the house. This project of his is in many ways a case study of its own, and the making of it is kindly being shared by him here. Enjoy!
432 Park Avenue
432 Park Avenue, NYC’s soon to be the tallest residential tower (also in the western hemisphere) just hit the 50% milestone in last month, reaching a height of 700 feet. Emmy-award-winning branding and creative agency DBOX is in charge of branding and creative for this project designed by architect Rafael Viñoly, and you should have a look at it if you didn’t already. Where can you see the film they made for it you ask? well… that is truly a million-dollar question!
