The Wings Art Gallery is my personal work. The idea of the building was with me since I was a student. I wanted to upgrade the old images and see how it will be to came back to this concept after few years.
It was a pleasure to work on this – I focused mailnly on the atosphere and the composition of the images. I hope that you will like the result. Thank you for your attention, C&C are more than welcome.
As you know, being able to share our work straight after their completion is a very rare event, so I would like to celebrate this unique happening by showcasing these images made for Stefano Boeri Architetti. Quick trivia about the building green: yes, it’s full 3D, and it had to comply to specific guidelines on species to be used.
This drove me mad. I wanted to simulate what http://www.berndnaut.nl/ is doing in reality, but with 3ds Max and Corona Renderer. You know, just using the basics. So I followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6R3JwCy02M and I thought “pretty easy, right? I can do this on a weekend”. Well… I went through so many iterations of the cloud in order to look realistic and changing the interior almost as many times as the cloud that, in the end, I spent over a month on this. I was realy stubborn on doing it with just the basics, without involving other softwares, but… because I wanted some extra details of the cloud I actually used some vdb. files that I got from https://www.openvdb.org/download/ . And that’s not a bad thing because I had to learn about some new great stuff. Like what vdb. files are, or exploring Phoenix FD at the office, discovering Houdini, things that I really want to explore further and make some other cool stuff. But, for now, this is my Taming A Cloud.

We wanted to relay the enchanting atmosphere of a cold Norwegian night. It was important for us to create a harmonious image with a specific color palette and contrast. We hope we achieved it.
