August 15, 2020 / in 3dsmax, Blender, V-Ray / by AdrParkinsonA kitchen based on a reference image. I used fSpy to match the camera, then modeled the space in Blender using the Archipack addon, before bringing it into Max to render it with V-Ray.

August 15, 2020 / in Blender, Cycles / by AdrParkinsonFor this project, I decided to depict a very industrial looking container home in a very natural scene. I tried a number of new tools to create the environment. The first were the 3D scanned rocks by Adrian Kubasa, which will be available here: https://www.eisklotz.com/products/models/nature-scans-for-blender/
The second was the Scatter addon by BD3D.
The scanned rocks are very high-quality, with good UVs, and even their own asset manager to easily add them into your scenes. I’ll definitely be using them on all future nature scenes.
The Scatter addon was ideal for well, scattering. I used it for all the ground plants as well as the rocks. So far, it’s the closest equivalent to Forest Pack I’ve seen for Blender. It makes setting up scenes like this much easier.
For textures, I used Poliigon for the majority. The containers were textured using Substance Painter.

The majority of the textures are from Poliigon. The books on the shelf are set to each have a random cover to prevent repetition. The models are from a variety of sources, including 3DSky, Vizpeople, CGMood, and Poliigon.

August 15, 2020 / in Blender, Cycles / by AdrParkinsonThe buildings in this image were inspired by the Parkinson Activity Centre and the Paramount Theatre in the city of Kelowna, BC.
The buildings were modeled using a Blender addon called Archipack, the grass was another Blender addon called Graswald. The textures were mostly from Quixel, the cars were free ones from Viz People, and the people themselves were mostly from Mrcutout.
The rendering was done with Cycles and post work was done in Davinci Resolve.

August 15, 2020 / in Blender, Cycles, Photoshop / by AdrParkinsonThe house was made with Archipack, the grass is Graswald, the people are from mrcutout.com, and some of the random objects like the lanterns and the flag were from 3DSky.
Rendering was done in Cycles and most postpro was done in Blender’s compositor.

I work as an archviz artist, most of my professional work is done using MAX and V-ray. For client work I’m usually forced to stick to a rather rigid style of midday sun and clear skies. So while waiting for an upcoming project to start I decided to put together a more interesting scene using Blender as much as possible.
The house itself was modeled entirely with the Archipack addon, the grass used Grass Free, and the trees were made with Sapling. The visible furniture was from 3DSky, the car by Andrei Maximov on Blendswap. The textures were a mix of free ones by Poliigon, Quixel, and a few others I can’t remember offhand. The cutout people were from mrcutout and skalgubbar. Finally I added a few subtle water effects in post with brushes by Obsidian Dawn.
My render settings were standard, with 2048 samples and some denoising. Render time was about three hours.
