A creative mind, critical eye and honed skills were on Christopher Malheiros’s menu when he dished out those visuals you see here. It seems he didn’t really do much… taken a bad-looking raw render, did a few steps in post and BAMMM! Well… sometimes Less is More! and how great it is being showcased with Mies’s Neue National Gallery as the subject matter. Great concept, great compositions, great coloring and very emotive quality to it. If done with Maxwell Render and on time… hmmm… Anyway, we can now enjoy this breakdown Christopher was kind enough to share with us.
Forum newcomer and long time Cinema 4D + VRay user, Vicky Bedford (@Tickytoria), made the switch and shared her first attempt using 3ds max + VRay on the forums. Picking up on a reference found on Pinterest, Vicky went for an exact matching to start with – with great success. It seems that the transition went pretty smooth looking at the results! but then… why wouldn’t it? Modeling is not the big issue in making a visual like this, it’s all the other things that count. VRay is VRay, despite the various differences in versions. I do wonder which platform is best for modeling though?
model+model released a new volume of 3D Sofas & Armchairs to help you spice up those interiors you are working on! You’ll have over 67 furniture models in 24 sets ready to go with VRay & Mental Ray supporting LWF.
Congratulations to Mateusz Ledzki from 3dology Studio for winning the second stage of Exlevel’s GrowFX giveaway! During the end of August I held that giveaway and the first winner was randomly selected from all who commented in the original GrowFX giveaway post. Mateusz showcased a 100% custom-made foliage in his scene – grass, ivy and trees. A mundane residential block coming alive due to the great care in foliage creation and placement awards Mateusz with a GrowFX license. Big thanks to Exlevel for sponsoring this giveaway and to all who took part in it… see you in the next one!
Last weekend I’ve been to Venice for the second time, attending State of Art Academy DAY 3 presenting there my real-time workflow using SketchUP + Lumion as well as a new plugin for 3dsmax & VRay. It was great meeting up once more with Gianpiero, Roberto and Peter, and also finally meeting up with Alfa (pixela) Smyrna, Adam Hotovy and Tomek Miksa after being in contact online for a very long time.
